Advanced Databases: Evaluation of in-memory database KDB+
Business Problem
The purpose of the project was to analyse the performance of a new/ specialized database with a more traditional tabular database in terms of speed and memory usage.
Objective
The objective of the project was two fold:
Understand the key strengths of the database
Test the performance of the database on different scenarios
Role & Responsibility
Research about the different specialized databases, finally chose KDB+ given my experience with it in Investment Banking (High Frequency Trading).
Understand the key strenghts of the database.
Do experimental evaluation on different metrics between KDB+ and SQL Server.
